This privacy policy explains how the "Twitch Multilingual Live Subtitles" browser extension ("the Extension") collects, uses, and handles information.

What data is processed

• Streamer audio: while the voice-subtitle feature is enabled, the Extension captures audio directly from the Twitch video player on the page you are viewing, in short segments, in order to generate live captions.
• Chat messages: the Extension reads publicly visible chat messages on the Twitch page you are viewing in order to detect their language and translate them.
• Device identifier: the Extension generates a random identifier stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local). It is used only to track your daily free-tier usage and is not linked to your name, email, or Twitch account.
• IP address: on free-tier requests, our backend server briefly uses your IP address (in hashed form, not stored as plain text) to apply a secondary daily usage limit that helps prevent abuse of the free tier. This hashed value is not used to identify you personally.
• Settings: your language and display preferences (target language, subtitle size/color/opacity, etc.) are stored locally in your browser and, where synced, in your Google account's Chrome sync storage.

How data is used

Audio segments and chat text are sent to the Extension's backend server, which forwards them to Google's Gemini API (via Google Cloud Vertex AI) to generate a transcription and translation. The result is sent back and displayed in your browser. Audio and text content are processed transiently to generate this response and are not stored in a database; they may briefly appear in operational error logs used only for debugging, and are not used for any other purpose.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
• We do not use collected audio or chat content to build advertising profiles.
• We do not require or collect your name, email, or account credentials to use the free tier of the Extension.

Third-party services

Audio and text are processed using Google's Gemini API. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's own privacy policy and terms of service.

Your controls

You can disable voice subtitles, chat translation display, or the entire Extension at any time from the Extension's popup or from your browser's extension settings. Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored settings and identifiers.

Children's privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

會處理哪些資料

• 實況主語音:當語音字幕功能開啟時,本擴充功能會從你正在觀看的 Twitch 播放器擷取短段音訊,用來產生即時字幕。
• 聊天室訊息:本擴充功能會讀取你所在 Twitch 頁面上公開顯示的聊天訊息,用來判斷語言並翻譯。
• 裝置識別碼:本擴充功能會產生一組隨機識別碼,存放在你瀏覽器本機(chrome.storage.local),僅用來計算你每日的免費額度使用量,不會與你的姓名、電子郵件或 Twitch 帳號建立關聯。
• IP 位址:使用免費方案時,我們的後端伺服器會短暫使用你的 IP 位址(以雜湊過的形式,不會存成明文)套用第二層每日用量上限,協助防止免費額度被濫用。這個雜湊值不會用來識別你的個人身分。
• 設定值:你的語言與顯示偏好(目標語言、字幕大小/顏色/透明度等)存放在瀏覽器本機,若你的瀏覽器有開啟同步,則會透過你的 Google 帳號同步。

資料如何被使用

音訊片段與聊天文字會被送到本擴充功能的後端伺服器,伺服器再轉送給 Google 的 Gemini API(透過 Google Cloud Vertex AI)產生辨識與翻譯結果,結果會回傳並顯示在你的瀏覽器中。音訊與文字內容僅用於即時產生這次回應,不會被存進資料庫;可能會短暫出現在僅供除錯用的錯誤日誌中,不會挪作他用。

我們不會做的事

• 不會把你的資料出售或分享給第三方做廣告或行銷用途
• 不會用蒐集到的音訊或聊天內容建立廣告個人檔案
• 使用免費方案不需要提供姓名、電子郵件或任何帳號密碼

第三方服務

音訊與文字是透過 Google 的 Gemini API 處理,Google 對這些資料的處理方式受 Google 自己的隱私權政策與服務條款規範。

你的控制權

你可以隨時透過本擴充功能的 popup 或瀏覽器的擴充功能設定,關閉語音字幕、聊天室翻譯顯示,或整個擴充功能。移除本擴充功能會一併清除所有存放在本機的設定與識別碼。

兒童隱私

本擴充功能並非針對 13 歲以下兒童設計,也不會刻意蒐集其資訊。

政策變更

本政策可能不時更新。政策更新後繼續使用本擴充功能,即代表你接受更新後的內容。
